Search the wires
One box. Six engines.
The old portals ran a dropdown of a hundred dead metasearch engines. Here's the honest 2026 version: six engines that actually work. Pick your instrument, type your query, and results open in a new tab. Nothing is logged here — your query goes straight to the engine you chose.
Field notes
Searching like you mean it
- Quote the odd phrase. Searching
"exact words in quotes"beats a bag of keywords when you're hunting a specific document or quote. - Marginalia is the archaeologist. Looking for a 2003 zine, a forgotten forum thread, a personal homepage? Start there, not Google.
- Cross-check the wire story. A claim that only exists on one engine's news tab is a rumor wearing a trench coat. Check two.
- Mind the date filter. Old news recycles as new outrage every few years. Sort by recent and check the timestamp before you share.
